Cosmetic Dentistry

Today’s cosmetic dentistry treatments are designed to meet every age, lifestyle, and budget. Whether you’re looking for a dramatic “go big or go home” transformation or simply need to address one problematic issue, we can help you create a smile plan that exceeds your expectations.

Most cosmetic dentistry treatments are used for aesthetic purposes only. In other words, they’re not there to correct signs of disease or decay. That being said, aesthetic restorations occasionally overlap with reconstructive or restorative dentistry, playing a dual role when it comes to your smile’s overall appearance and function.

During your cosmetic dentistry evaluation, we’ll discuss your primary concerns and goals. As we get to understand your vision and preferred timeline, we can present varying options that meet those concerns. Together, we’ll craft a smile makeover plan that is achievable for your situation.

"My family and I have been going to Dr. Segal for well over a decade after connecting through Dental Crisis Care. We had the option of going with a cheaper HMO dentist but chose to pay more out of pocket to get the best dentist in South Florida. Dr. Matthew Segal is caring, has a great sense of humor, and his whole staff (thanks Tima!) make you feel welcomed. And if you're into anything ocean, this is the place for you. Enjoy!" - DiVitto Kelly

Everyone’s smile is different. So are their cosmetic dentistry needs. By combining popular aesthetic treatments, we can help you achieve the results you’re looking for at a price you can afford. Being able to pick and choose from options that fit your situation puts you in control of the entire process. We’ll be here by your side to guide you through your options so that you can make an educated decision about your oral care.

When you feel self-conscious about the way your teeth look, it impacts everything from your personality to your social life. But taking your teeth and transforming them into your favorite accessory will give you a reason to smile each day. People with beautiful teeth tend to smile more often, do better in job interviews, be seen as “friendlier”, and even have better self-esteem. If your smile is standing in the way of you and the lifestyle you want, investing in cosmetic dentistry could be one of the best gifts you’ve ever given yourself.

Concerned about the costs? No problem. Cosmetic dentistry treatments range from affordable whitening treatments to dazzling full makeovers. We even provide flexible payment plans so that you can start on treatment immediately, with low-interest financing that fits your budget. Chances are you’ll wish you hadn’t waited so long to finally take the first steps in transforming your smile.

Some of our more popular cosmetic dentistry treatments include:

Dental Bonding & White Fillings

Have a small chip in your tooth? A tiny surface flaw that needs to be covered? Maybe a small area of exposed tooth root? Then dental bonding is a safe and fast way to help your tooth look whole again.

Bonding uses the same type of composite (white) material you see in tooth-colored fillings. But instead of repairing an area of decay, we’re shaping it over a flaw for aesthetic purposes. Numbing usually isn’t even necessary! We can gently prep the tooth, shape the composite, and then use a bright light to cure it permanently in place.

For areas of dental damage caused by decay, composite material is used as a small white filling. White fillings are more conservative than traditional amalgam (silver) restorations since the material bonds closely to your enamel. This characteristic ensures a smaller restoration while preserving as much intact enamel as possible.

Best of all, bonding and white fillings come in a variety of different shades. We’ll use a special tool to record your current tooth color and match it with the composite material. That way the final restoration blends right in with your smile. Your dentist will be the only one who knows that it’s there!

Teeth Whitening & Zoom Whitening

Brighter teeth tend to look healthier and younger. Whitening your smile is one of the best ways to help it look its best. In fact, we recommend teeth bleaching before starting other types of cosmetic treatments, simply because we want to match new dental work against the brighter color of your natural enamel (it isn’t possible to whiten porcelain or similar dental materials.)

Professional teeth whitening provides the best, fastest, and strongest results with the least side effects. By safely erasing deep stains and discoloration, your teeth can look brighter in as little as one day.

Our office provides different teeth whitening treatments to choose from. Custom take-home whitening is a convenient way to brighten your smile on your own time. Simply wear the trays once a day for 10-14 days. Keep them on hand to touch up every 3-6 months to keep your teeth white for years to come. We recommend touching up after your six-month cleanings!

In a rush? Same day teeth whitening is also possible. Zoom! Whitening takes only about 1.5 hours from start to finish. Erase multiple shades of stain for that last-minute job interview, girls’ trip, or even your wedding day. When you’re short on time or prefer to whiten your teeth as quickly as possible, Zoom! provides the best solution.

Always make sure to schedule a dental exam before starting any type of whitening regimen. You never want to apply bleaching agents to your teeth if you have active tooth decay, gum disease, gum recession, or a tooth-colored restoration in that area.

Inlays, Inlays, & Dental Veneers

Lab-made fillings (also called indirect dental fillings) provide additional reinforcement where conventional fillings may not be strong enough. Depending on the type of area being treated, these “inlays” or “onlays” reinforce more surface than a filling but less than a full dental crown. That’s why some people even refer to them as “three-quarter crowns.” Like crowns though, inlays and onlays are crafted from porcelain or gold in our partner lab. They require a two-visit process to complete.

Inlays and onlays are specifically used for large fractures, cracks, or tooth decay. They minimize alteration to the remaining tooth structure by preventing the need for a full-coverage crown.

But what if you have a tooth in your smile zone that just needs aesthetic enhancement? As long as it’s healthy, dental veneers may be an excellent choice. Veneers are a cosmetic restoration for aesthetic purposes. They don’t repair decay or fractures, but they do change the way that teeth look once they’re bonded over them. A veneer only covers the visible surface (front) of the tooth, as opposed to the entire structure.

In most cases, we’ll want to use a set of 6-10 veneers across your upper front teeth. The total needed will depend on how wide your smile is.
Veneers are excellent for making teeth look:

  • Straighter

  • Whiter

  • Properly shaped

By masking the teeth behind them, you can quickly reverse the signs of mild crowding, severe discoloration, uneven enamel, or even gaps in your smile.

Getting dental veneers requires careful planning, as we’ll want to design exactly what your new smile will look like regarding its shape and color. Once treatment starts, we’ll book you for two visits approximately two weeks apart.

Although veneers, inlays, and onlays can’t decay like enamel, you still need to clean around them thoroughly each day to prevent decay in the supporting tooth.
